This virtual bowling sport, which uses the Nintendo Wii game system, is a “fall prevention program funded by King County Emergency Services, with the intention to reduce and prevent falls for seniors ages 50 and up.”

This is the 5th ShapeUp Bowling Tournament so far, and everyone at The B-Town Blog tips our virtual bowling pins in their general direction.

They also have a Sitting Fit class that started at Burien Park Apartments that meets MWF from 3:30-4:30pm, running 10 weeks for $5.

The 3rd annual ‘Lakewood Fall Fling to Fight MS,’ a benefit Disc Golf Tournament, will be held starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16th at the Lakewood Disc Golf Course in White Center.

This event is open to players of all levels, and there’s a $30 registration fee (includes lunch & tournament disc).

It’s 3-on-3 and “self-refereed” says event coordinate Doug Schulze.

The court and schedule can handle up to 16 teams.

The event is sponsored by the City of Normandy Park Police Department with generous support from Normandy Park Athletic, Desert Sun, Wayne’s Service Center, Archery Bistro (NPB Advertiser), QFC, Allied Waste and Puget Sound Energy.

In addition to locals slam dunking over each other, there will also be food and a beer garden.

The Highline Blue Sox Colt Baseball team recently advanced to the West Zone Colt Baseball Tournament in California by winning all their games in the NW Regionals held in Kirkland recently. Their first game is scheduled for Saturday, July 31st, and they’re holding a car wash this Sunday, July 25th to raise funds for their trip.

They’re asking our Readers to come get their cars washed and “help a local team travel to California!”

Burien’s Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center’s 6th Annual “Fore Our Kids!” Golf Invitational will be hosted at Foster Golf Links in Tukwila on Wednesday, June 24th.

Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center (RDCC) is committed to nurturing the success and self-sufficiency for children, families and community. RDCC is a non-profit social service agency that provides residential treatment for young people recovering from a history of abuse, neglect, and behavior and emotional challenges.
