The Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce (of which we’re a member) is presenting its 2009 Annual Get-Away Golf Tournament at Rainier Golf and Country Club on Thursday, July 30th.

Join business leaders and other key members of the community for a fun-filled day of golf!

The day begins with a barbecue lunch on the veranda at 10:30am and a shotgun start at Noon. Complimentary beer will be provided by Elliott Bay Brewing Company, and the US Navy Blue Angels will likely be overhead practicing for Seafair! After completing the 18-hole course, golfers and guests will convene in the clubhouse for a gourmet hors d’oeuvres spread fit for royalty and a fabulous awards reception with exciting raffle prizes.

WHERE: Rainier Golf and Country Club, located at 11133 Des Moines Memorial Drive South in Seattle.

COST: Single golfer cost is $150 (includes BBQ lunch, 18 holes of golf with golf cart, reception and tee prize), foursome cost is $600 (includes BBQ lunch for four, 18 holes of golf with golf cart, reception and tee prize) and corporate foursome cost is $660 (includes BBQ lunch for four, 18 holes of golf with golf cart, reception and tee prize – plus recognition in publications and name in program). Cost for reception only is $40. Chamber membership is not a requirement for participation.

Burien’s Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center’s 6th Annual “Fore Our Kids!” Golf Invitational will be hosted at Foster Golf Links in Tukwila on Wednesday, June 24th.

Here are the details:

WHAT: Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center 6th Annual “Fore Our Kids!” Golf Invitational

WHEN: Wednesday, June 24th starting at 8am

WHERE: Foster Golf Links, located at 13500 Interurban Ave South in Tukwila

COST: Registration starts at $125 per player and includes 18 holes, a cart, lunch and a Tommy Bahama shirt.

INFO: An 8am shotgun start will kick off a great day benefiting families and youth.

Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center (RDCC) is committed to nurturing the success and self-sufficiency for children, families and community. RDCC is a non-profit social service agency that provides residential treatment for young people recovering from a history of abuse, neglect, and behavior and emotional challenges. RDCC also operates community based treatment and prevention programs, as well as an independent living program for female adolescents transitioning from foster care and group homes.

Burien Parks produced this video, which showcases area seniors who took part the first ever regional Wii Bowling League Tournament between participating senior centers on Jan. 7th:

The virtual non-gutter ball, strike & spare-rollin’ Senior Bowlers were from various centers around South King County, and the tournament was hosted by the Great American Casino in Tukwila.

According to numerous, reliable sources (and this is apparent in the video), a fun time was had by all!
