The book shares compelling stories from Rev. Wilson’s life in ministry—from the traumatic to the hilarious to the inspiring. Mark Wagner’s life and music are shaped by a visit to the Village of Hope in Northern Uganda; he brings that vision to worship at the conference. Linda McCray’s artwork is incredible. For instance, this featured triptych, Passion to Pentecost, is 6 x 9 feet and created with acrylics and sand from Jerusalem.

Transform Burien, a cooperative group of Christ-centered churches located in the Burien/Highline area, will be holding a special Toy/Gift Giveaway event on Sunday, Dec. 19th for families that find it hard to provide the gifts they would like to this Christmas.

In addition to this giveaway event, Transform Burien hosts a free hot meal for families and people in need every Sunday from 3pm – 5pm and free sack lunches every Wednesday from 12pm – 3pm in the former location of the Burien Community Center at 425 SW 144th Street (at the intersection of 4th SW & SW 146th).

Guests are also provided with basic grocery needs and are welcome to a community clothing closet where they can choose from wardrobe necessities. These meals feed anywhere from 60 to over 100 people on average.

In a time when seemingly everything is in need, this group of eight local community churches have provided for the most vulnerable in our community; however, none of would be possible without donations from you, the community members. Toys are still in need for the gift giveaway on December 19th as well as non-perishable grocery items and clothing.

Donations can be made at the former Burien Community Center, on Wednesday from 12pm – 2pm; Friday from 9am – 11am; or before 4pm on Sunday, Dec. 19th.

My child is in Kindergarten this Fall, will he/she be in preschool? This year the Kindergarten children will be combined with the elementary children. Preschool is limited to 4 and 5 year old children only. There will be no childcare for underage kids.

Ahoy, there, matey! Are you ready for voyage of a lifetime?

At the High Seas Expedition Vacation Bible School at Prince of Peace Lutheran, kids that are 3 years old up to those entering 6th grade will explore the mighty love of God on a journey that could change them forever. For 5 mornings, 9:00-12:00, kids in small groups will create Bible crafts, play team-building games, snack on tasty treats, and act out the Bible story as ways to learn about God’s love for them. These High Seas Expedition activities help faith flow into real life as kids “Watch for God” and begin to notice evidence of God in everyday life. All kids will participate in a hands-on mission project to show that God’s love is for everyone—even a town in Uganda. The members of that Uganda community really loved the bracelets from last year, and we hope to make even more this year to be hand-delivered. Each child will receive a deck of Bible point cards for them to take home to keep the learning about God’s love alive and family based.

As a large group, kids will learn new, exciting songs that they’re sure to hum at home. The “Captain” tells stories that make the Bible point clear both at the beginning of the session and the finale each day. All family members are invited to join us each day at 11:40, because that’s when we’ll be having the Floating Finale—a daily celebration of God’s love through word and song with a live band.

Join us at 12:00 noon on Friday, as we end our week together with a community picnic lunch open to the kids and their families as we spend some time together getting better acquainted. The entire week is FREE, but any donation would be accepted.
