Toledo told The B-Town Blog's Jack Mayne last week that she intends to run again in 2011 for the King County Council. "This has been truly a grassroots campaign," Toledo told the B-Town Blog at a campaign gathering at the home of family friends Tuesday night. "We got many people involved who have not been involved in politics before. "I want to champion important causes, even as a private citizen, such as cleaning up Lake Hicks." David Toledo, brother of Diana and her campaign manager, said "Some people may have voted for our opponent, but they did not vote for his policies."

"Funding for Metro transit could be the biggest issue facing the council next year," McDermott told The B-Town Blog Tuesday. "Also, one of the first things I will do as a council member is to look at the Shoreline Master Plan and how it affects Maury Island." McDermott is expected to take office Tuesday, November 23. He will replace appointed council member Jan Drago who last year pledged not to run for election to the seat. The seat was previously held by Dow Constantine, now County Executive.

The grand finale of 2009 as well as to the first decade of the 21st century is this Thursday night, Dec. 31st, and here’s just a taste of what’s going on in the general Burien area for New Year’s Eve 2010.

First off, keep in mind that law enforcement in King County will be out in full-force, conducting their “X-52″ DUI patrols around the area, so get a designated driver, walk, ride your bike or take a cab if you’re going out.
