There’s a couple of new DOCs in town, and they’re  here to help you resolve and relieve your back problems through chiropractic care and treatment.

Meet Chris Aliment and Luke Boyer new DOCs at BTB Advertiser Moss Chiropractic in Burien. That’s “DOC’s” as in “Doctors of Chiropractic,”  or D.C.

I’m sure Chris has heard this before, but when you have a last name like “Aliment,” seems like you have to go into the medical field. There, we’ve said it. Dr. Chris has a few years of chiropractic experience. He’s happy to return to his native Renton after studying chiropractic at Life University in Atlanta. His wife Jennifer is a chiropractor in Federal Way. They hope to work together at some point in a family type setting treating kids, high school athletes and students. Dr. Chris has been at Moss Chiro since late 2010.

Chris is an outdoorsman who loves hiking, biking, camping and skiing.

Dr. Luke joined the Moss team in February. He also settled in Renton, where he enjoys being close to the water. He calls himself a “jogger in training.” With a degree from Eastern Washington in Business Administration and Pre-med, Luke found he was drawn to chiropractic instead of traditional medicine so he could experience people’s health improving. After a four-year stint at Palmer College of Chiropractic-West in San Jose, California, Luke came back to Washington to start practicing.

Dr. Jonna Moss loves this new arrangement with the guys. ”I’m so lucky. They both have a sincere bedside manner and have great diagnostic skills.”   Dr. Moss increased her staff size to provide ample care for their patients by being open more hours during the week. “Plus it’s nice to have two doctors here for a second opinion,” she added.

Right now the doctors are learning from each other and playing off each other, but the one thing that they are in agreement on is working with Dr. Jonna Moss. “It’s terrific (working here), She’s great. Dr. Moss has lots of experience, and we’ve learned a lot,”  the guys told BTB.  They’re currently helping Dr. Moss treat her patients, while they are seeking patients of their own.

Can you imagine a Christmas where your number one gift request is laundry detergent? Or gas cards or dog and cat food. Well that’s what advertiser Moss Chiropractic’s 2010 family-in-need want for Christmas.

Dr. Jonna Moss has been sponsoring families for Christmas for over 15 years. This years’ family lives in Burien and consists of a single mom and three teenagers. They need clothes, accessories, board games and general household items like toilet paper and laundry detergent. Check out the tree at the clinic. It’s loaded with their wish-list and sizes.

With a week to go before Christmas, Dr. Moss’ lodge like waiting room is filling up with gifts. They hope to have a van’s worth of presents by late next week for delivery. Most of the presents come from Dr. Moss’ patients and employees, but you — our BTB readers — can make a difference by dropping off something that would brighten Christmas for this family. Share the joy and bounty of the season.

You can also buy $1 raffle tickets for a basket of homemade canned veggies or a basket of Aromatherapaes. All proceeds will benefit the family.

They’re also collecting food and miscellaneous items for the “Transform Burien Resource Center” located in the former Burien Community Center. You can drop off canned or boxed food, baby food, cat and dog food, blankets, coats and sleeping bags at Moss Chiropractic clinic at 612 SW 152nd in Burien. According to Dr. Moss, “Each year we strive to give back to our community as well as a particular family who is in need. With the help of the community we can really have a positive loving impact.”

Last year saw over 1,600 visitors tour the spooky extravaganza and Dr. Jonna Moss assures us that this year — the 16th year — the scares will be bigger and better than ever!

A full-scale construction project takes over the sidewalk in front of Moss Chiropractic

After weeks of planning, Moss and her volunteer crew will spend Friday evening, after the last patient leaves the office, and most of Saturday morning tearing her clinic apart and turning it into the scariest place to be in Burien. The installation includes theater lighting, sound and other special affects.

After entertaining visitors young and old for just four hours as part of the Boo in Burien the Moss Chiropractic team will then reverse the process by taking the haunted house apart and setting the office back up to receive patients on Monday morning.

Quite a labor of love considering the entrance price for this amazing show is absolutely free!

Rain or shine, be sure not to miss this local tradition on Saturday, October 30. The haunted house will be open from 1 PM to 5 PM at 612 SW 152nd Street to fill all your Halloween fright needs.

On Halloween, BTB Advertiser Moss Chiropractic hosted their 15th annual Haunted House, where they transformed their entire office building into the “best darn haunted house” in Burien.

There were 15 staged rooms and 18 total displays of terror, and the entire “house” was put together by Dr. Jonna Moss and 24 volunteers, including patients, staff and friends of staff.

The B-Town Blog was brave (or foolish?) enough to enter, and we thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, as did hundreds of other area folks.

Of all the Halloween events happening in Burien this Saturday, you won’t want to miss this one – the 15th annual Haunted House at BTB Advertiser Moss Chiropractic, located at 612 SW 152nd.

The family-friendly fun will run from 1pm to 5pm.

Seems like Dr. Jonna Moss (pictured, left) just loves Halloween. She has since her childhood neighbor turned his house into a haunted house, and she knew that when she grew up she would do the same for other kids.

Moss’ lodge-like Chiropractic Clinic has lots of small rooms, which makes for the perfect haunted setting. This year’s visitors will enter from a castle façade off SW 152nd to walk into a scary (but not too scary), gorey (but not too gorey) display of Halloween horrors which includes 15 staged rooms and 18 total displays of terror. Every room will be a different experience.

Visitors can expect to see zombies, pirates, witches, aliens, werewolfs, vampires and hippies (hippies? Since when were hippies considered scary?).

New to the haunted house this year will be professional lighting and professional special effects. Also for the first time ever, Moss patients will join the staff in scaring the little and big kids of Boorien.

This labor-of-love on the part of Dr. Moss and her 24 volunteers, including patients, staff and friends of staff started last Saturday when everyone met at her home to start painting and sorting the props, walls and other assorted elements. Since this is a working clinic, light decorating began Wednesday, working around the patients. On Friday (Oct. 30th), at 6:30pm, like clockwork, the truck hauling the props and walls will arrive at their door and everyone goes to work for the next four to five hours creating the rooms and displays. They’ll finalize the scary displays Halloween morning at 7am..and like magic, the castle doors will open at 1pm and remain open until 5pm. Tear down will precede a group dinner in costumes at Azteca Mexican Restaurant, compliments of Dr. Moss.

If you or the kids are too afraid to go inside, they will have candy outside for the ‘fraidy-cats.

Usually open for business on Saturdays, Moss Chiropractic will be closed for everything except scary-business on Halloween!

“Two and a half docs” (2 full-time and one half time chiropractors), five massage therapists, clinic hours when patients can be there (Open Mon-Sat), an office cat, and a warm lodge-like environment are just for starters to patients of Dr. Jonna Moss. She and her staff have much to offer those in need of TLC when it comes to ridding Burien residents of pain.

Dr. Moss has been a chiropractor for nearly 19 years. Seventeen years ago she bought the building that is now Moss Chiropractic, designed it like a warm and friendly lodge—right down to a bevy of bears– and hung out her ‘shingle’ (on 152nd St). One of the great things on her ‘shingle’ is ‘se habla espanol’, which is very important in Burien and surrounding areas!

More than a local chiropractor, Dr. Moss and her staff are community activists. Some of the things they are currently involved in are Burien’s “Girls Night Out” raising money for Highline Cancer Center; during “Boo in Burien,” they have their ever-popular haunted house; in November they stage their annual food drive for Northwest Harvest and finally in December, they adopt a Burien family truly in need and provide them with literally a van-full of gifts donated by their patients and friends.
