Several BTB Readers (or perhaps clever shills for Amazon) have sent in emails asking us to post this, and, alas, we figured since we posted a story last August to see if anyone wanted a Dick’s Drive-In located ’round these parts, we might as well post this one.

AmazonFresh is “a new online grocery service founded by Amazon, serving customers in the Seattle area,” according to their website. They currently offer home delivery to a limited number of Seattle neighborhoods, excluding Burien – hence the online publicity stunt poll.

NOTE: To vote, you are required to enter your address, city, zip and email address. We saw no link to any Terms or Privacy Policy, so we’re not sure what happens to your information.

As of 5:30pm on Monday, March 21st, the 98166 zip code was currently in second place at 28%, behind Renton/Fairwood with 33%. The good news is that we’re kicking the amazons off Lynnwood (27%) and Mountlake Terrace (12%).

EXCLUSIVE: Eat Local owner Greg Conner has selected Burien for his stores’ second location in the greater Seattle area – he’s opening his 3500-square foot store at 810 SW 151st soon, right next to Bicycles West. His Queen Anne location has been open for three years.

Greg hopes to have Eat Local open by early fall of this year. He will also be locating Eat Local’s open kitchen in the Burien location.

Eat Local is a speciality food store, not a restaurant, or a grocery store,” explains Greg. “It’s a concept store specializing in food products purchased from local northwest organic farmers. It is also an artisan food store offering prepared meals made with seasonal, organic ingredients bought directly from local farms.

Organic farmers include:

• Thundering Hooves for pork, beef and lamb
• Salmon from Loki Fish
  
• Grains from Bluebird Grains Farms
  
• Stokesberry Farms will supply the organic eggs

…just to name a few.

Greg Conner is returning to his roots so you can "Eat Local."

Eat Local will be selling entrees, sides, baked goods, desserts, soups, all cooked on-site and frozen to keep the nutrients in. All the consumer has to do, is take it home and mike it (as in “microwave it“).

They will also be carrying a selection of other items, including:

• Rockridge Orchards cider
• Bluebird Grains
  
• Empire Ice Cream
• Tiny’s Organics
• Blue Cottage Jams and Woodrings Spreads
• Local cheeses, dairy and eggs

Why Burien?

Greg grew up in Burien, and is a graduate of Kennedy High School. He wanted to come home to one of the best little cities in the Seattle area. I think Burien is going to just get better and better in the years to come.

Toke, er we mean Tip of the bong, er Hat to BTB Reader and local Writer/Talent Don Crawley, who alerted us to this humorous message on the Grocery Outlet sign on 4th Ave SW near SW 150th.

We’ve always thought this store was crowded because of the bargains, but now we know the real reason: it’s Burien’s Spring Pot Sale!

Some other bad attempts at lame pot humor come to mind, like:

• “No wonder those shoppers are buying such large quantities of Twinkies…and they’re so mellow!” – Don Crawley
• “Clean up in aisle three – the entire stack of discount munchies have been spilled again!”
• “Now we know why this area is called HIGHline!”
• Listen closely to the Muzak that’s played in the store next time you’re there – nothing but Grateful Dead and Phish.
• Look closely at the name of the espresso stand in the background – it’s called “Red Eye Expresso” for a reason!
