Drive-By Shooting Injures One In Burien

An apparent gang-related drive-by shooting in Burien left one man injured Saturday night.

The incident happened around 8:15pm in the 13600 block of Ambaum Blvd. SW.

Medics treated one victim on the scene, who was moved to a hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

Police are looking for an older red four-door Honda sedan, which fled the scene. Eyewitnesses told deputies that gang symbols were flashed just before gunshots rang out.

Southcenter Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, Gunman At Large

A shooting inside Tukwila’s Westfield Southcenter Mall Saturday afternoon left one man dead and another seriously injured, the gunman still at large, and the mall locked down for a while before being evacuated.

We know you don’t read the B-Town Blog for this kind of news, but we had to post it anyways since Burien is less than five miles away.

Here are two videos related to the incident – the first taken on a cell phone by someone who walked up to and near the victim, and the second from two young women stuck in traffic trying to get to the mall:

Gang Awareness Seminar Is Thursday, Nov. 13th

In times like these, with a souring economy and loss of jobs, gang activity often starts to escalate. That’s one reason that the Burien Police Department is holding a special Gang Awareness Seminar on Thursday Nov. 13th, from 6-9pm at the Criminal Justice Training Center.

WHAT: Gang Awareness Seminar â€“ Open to the Public

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 13th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm

WHERE: Washington State Criminal Justice Center (Police Academy), located at 19010 1st Avenue South

Guest Speaker is Detective Joe Gagliardi.

Detective Gagliardi is a gang detective for the Burien Police Department. He is recognized as an expert in gang activity, providing regional training at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center and for the King County Sheriffâ€™s Office.

His presentation will give you an overview of gang activities, gang structure and active gangs in the South King County area.Â He will be able to answer your questions about community safety and how to address gang activity in your neighborhood.

If you have kids, you need to be at this seminar. Gangs are becoming prevalent in our communities and this information will help you keep your kids out of the growing Gang culture.
