B-Town’s annual ‘Empty Bowls’ fundraiser event for the Highline Area and White Center Food Banks will be held Friday, Jan. 27th at the Burien Community Center, with lunch being served from 10 a.m. – Noon, and dinner from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

This great event will be held at the Burien Community Center,  located 14700 6th Ave SW.

Your donation will get you the opportunity to pick out a beautiful handmade bowl, as well as a simple but wonderful meal of soup, bread, dessert and drink; all donated by local businesses. Sponsored by Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services and Discover Burien.

Suggested donations are:

• $15 (minimum) Adult Donation
• $10 (minimum) Child Donation

Empty Bowls events can be found around the country raising money to combat hunger in our communities. Moshier Art Center Potters have donated bowls to be filled with soup at this fun event…and all are invited!

And be sure to smile for us, as BTB’s own Michael Brunk and Scott Schaefer will be on hand taking photos!

The 4th annual ‘Cove to Clover’ fundraiser will be held March 9 through March 11, with a Sponsor Kick-off Party to be held at Mick Kelly’s Irish Pub starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12th.

This year will bring several new events to this great local event, including a new 10K run, a Talent Show and an Angel Dinner to be held Feb. 4.

This race is unlike any other 5K or 10K. For one thing, it is very hard. So hard in fact that it is fast becoming a test piece for NW runners. For starters, “Snake Hill” rises nearly 1000′ in the first mile of the course.  Around mile 2 you’ll encounter ”The Uprising”, a runner obstacle that has been constructed in the middle of a live Celtic battlefield. For your suffering, you will be rewarded with on-course Celtic pipers and a finish line festival that delivers the goods (2 beer gardens, 2 stages with live entertainment, free root beer garden and free hot dogs for children).

The Cove to Clover is a 501(c)(3) umbrella charity which distributes all proceeds to local charities. The organization is very lean and run by passionate volunteers. Be assured, your participation will be making a positive impact on your community.

The Burien Elks Club, along with the Five Corner Albertson’s, will be holding their third annual Spaghetti Feed and Silent Auction from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20th to benefit the Highline Area Food Bank.

My name is Angel Laycock and I play for a local soccer club, HPFC Eagles, and within our club we have a leadership group called the Senior Leadership Committee and our goal is to get our club involved in a lot of activities that we can do as a club for the community. Our group is lead by Maya Mendoza and it is a group of seven players who are in charge of planning events. So the reason for contacting you is that we have an event coming up called “Trick or Can,” and what we will be doing is on Sunday, October 30th between 3pm-5pm small groups of our club will be going around house to house to collect canned food and what we will do is send that canned food to three different food drives which include Highline Area Food Bank, White Center Food Bank, and West Seattle Food Bank. We will be in a couple different areas that include Normandy Park, Three Tree Point, North Admiral and a few other local locations.
