A Burien Police sergeant responded to a call at the Burien Library late Thursday afternoon after a confrontation involving a large group of young males threatened to escalate in the lobby.

According to Sgt. Henry McLauchlan, the group of young males entered the lobby looking for another kid they knew.

After finding him there, words were exchanged, the one youth was harassed and then, apparently fearing that he would be attacked by the others, allegedly threw a punch at a young male in front of him.

The sergeant who responded to the call observed a young male running from the scene and onlookers pointed him out as being involved in the confrontation. When ordered by the sergeant to stop, the kid then ran and additional police assistance was summoned.

The situation was quickly defused and the running youth was quickly detained. No arrests have been made as of yet but the investigation continues.

One librarian estimated the crowd in the lobby before the police arrived at about 60.

McLauchlan said it is unknown if the incident involved gang members or was influenced by gang activity. That also remains under investigation.

He added that Burien police, who reduced disruptive behavior around the building last summer, will again increase their presence there.

Several Burien Police officers and King County Sheriff’s deputies responded to incident.

There was no immediate report of arrests or injuries.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a man celebrating his 21st birthday was critically stabbed, and another man shot Tuesday night (May 24th) during a bar fight outside the Wah Long Sports Bar in Burien.

Both victims ended up at Harborview Medical Center.

The shooter is still at large.

The incident began about 12:20 a.m. at the Wah Long, located at 15220 Ambaum Blvd SW. Several patrons got into an argument inside the business, which escalated into a fistfight involving four people outside in the parking lot. At some point during the fight one participant was stabbed several times with a knife.

Next one of the persons involved in the fight ran over to a parked car, pulled out a handgun, and fired several shots. One of the people in the original fight was hit and he collapsed. The shooter, stabbing victim, and others piled into the car and the vehicle sped off.

Sheriff’s deputies and Burien Police arrived about 45 seconds after the 9-1-1 call, and Medics a short time later. Meanwhile, the getaway car dropped off the stabbing victim and his sister at Highline Medical Center and then left immediately. The victim was transferred to Harborview.

The injuries suffered by the shooting victim, a 33-year old Burien resident, are not believed to be life-threatening. However the injuries to the 21-year old stabbing victim are. He is from Burien also.

There have been no arrests.

The King County Sheriff’s Department reports that a 22-year old Burien man was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning (Jan. 26th) around 1am while walking near Chelsea Park when two men approached him, brandished a gun to his chest and stole his cell phone.

According to Sgt. John Urquhart, both suspects then ran away, but were chased by the victim. When they saw this the suspects popped off a few shots at him, which generated several “shots fired” calls to 911.

The victim didn’t give up though – police say that he caught up with the two men in Chelsea Park (at SW 136th and 8th Ave SW) and starting fighting with the unarmed one. But the one with the gun pistol-whipped the victim on the back of the head. The fight ended when both fighters got tired and the two suspects “ran’ off again.

One deputy looking for the ‘shots fired” call found the victim staggering down the street with head lacerations. A K-9 unit tracked one of the suspects to the park nearby, and also found the gun that was used hidden under a garbage can along with the stolen cell phone.

The victim, a Burien man, was treated and released.

The captured suspect, a Seattle man, age 19, was taken to the hospital and stitched up before being booked in jail for investigation of Robbery.

The second suspect was not located.

No, it wasn’t some wayward animal gift from Santa’s sleigh, it was actually two male eagles who got caught up in each other and fell into Gary Hallock’s backyard. Hallock wasn’t sure what to do, since tangled, angry bald eagles with two-inch talons aren’t the easiest animals to deal with, so he called the Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington, who came to the rescue.

There is still no word from police on the suspect, and while the victim’s identity was revealed in Comments made on this website, we have chosen to withhold those until his name is officially released.

According to King County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart, a bar fight at closing time at Burien’s Goodtime Ernie’s Sports Bar & Grill Thursday morning (Nov. 12th) led to the stabbing death of one man, age 25, while his brother (24) was seriously injured.

The victim died at the scene, and the brother was taken to Harborview with stab wounds. He is expected to survive.

The incident occurred about 1:40am at Good Time Ernie’s, which is located at 15747 Ambaum Blvd in Burien, behind Wizards Casino.

According to Urquhart, a fight inside the bar involving several people spilled out into the parking lot where the stabbings occurred.

A Burien man, age 25, died at the scene, despite CPR efforts from Sheriff’s deputies (Burien Police) and then from fire personnel. A second stabbing victim, age 24, and also from Burien, was taken to Harborview.

The two victims, who are brothers, have not yet been identified.

Sheriff’s detectives interviewed bar patrons and witnesses, but no one was arrested.

What prompted the fight is unknown, and the suspect is still at large.

On Friday, Oct. 17th, during a high school football game between Renton High School’s Indians and the Tyee Totems, a brawl broke out at Neudorf Memorial Field in Tukwila.

Renton came into the game at 3-3 while Tyee came in winless.

After the game they both walked out with a postponed game.

Five minutes before the end of the first half Renton was leading 19-0, and it looked like Tyee was going to get another one in their loss column and Renton would get the win.

But when a hard tackle turned into a shoving match, all play was halted. The shoving escalated and turned into a fist fight. After everything was broken up the officials decided to postpone the game and both teams had to forfeit.

No player can discuss the brawl or answer any questions about it to the public. So after the brawl that was started by a couple of player’s emotions, both team’s seasons are in doubt. Many think that both teams will miss just one game, but there are rumors that the teams could be suspended for the rest of the season. Before the game Renton had playoff hopes, and now they have little or no hope of making the playoffs.

This is obviously very damaging to both teams, and we will just have to wait and see how this turns out.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, is asking for help in identifying the six suspects who can be seen attacking him in the video.

Apparently the victim required 100 stitches on his back and side.

He said the group of four men and two women attacked him after he “walked by them.”

“It was just pain – punch, blow, like flashes of light popping off in my head,” he said.

He said two other people tried to stop the attackers but were beaten back.

As of Monday, the victim claims that police have not interviewed him or even looked at the video, which we here at the BTB find just appalling.

Is it any wonder that White Center has such a bad reputation?
