The third annual Burien Wellness Fair will be held on Saturday, May 14th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Burien Town Square, and this year’s theme will be “Healthy Activities for your Mind, Body and Spirit!”

Along with exhibitors, kids’ entertainment, and lots of giveaways, Collins Chiropractic is teaming up with fitness instructors from the Burien Parks Department to provide some informative wellness seminars and exercise demonstrations to give people of all ages ideas for healthy living.

The half hour seminars begin at Noon, with “Eat Well”, which includes some food samples. At 12:30 the ten-minute fitness demonstrations begin, with “Sitting Fit.” This demonstration is appropriate for people of all ages to participate.

• At 1 pm, a “Move Well” seminar will begin, followed by a “Zumba” demonstration at 1:30.
• At 2 pm, “Think Well” will begin, with a 2:30 demonstration of the “3R’s of Exercise – Retain, Restore, Renew”.

Plan to take in one, two or all three of these great seminars as part of your day at the Fair!

Vocational & Educational Opportunities for Careers in Health Care
Puget Sounds Skills Center, Health Sciences and Human Services High School, and Highline Community College will be on hand to talk to students of all ages who are interested in pursuing careers in the health care field. They will have information on their programs.

Tukwila’s annual Backyard Wildlife Festival is a free all-day event on Saturday, May 9th, to educate and inspire people to welcome wildlife – such as birds, butterflies, and other wildlife – into their backyards, gardens and communities.

Appropriately, coming up on Mother (Earth)’s Day weekend, and it’s a free, all-day event to educate and inspire people to welcome wildlife – such as birds, butterflies, and other wildlife – into their backyards, gardens and communities.

WHAT: 9th Annual Backyard Wildlife Festival

• Bird Show of North America – The musical group will be performing their trademark bird songs live while painting scenes of birds. (10:00am and 12:30pm)
• Garden Tour – Take a self-guided tour or the shuttle to certified wildlife habitat gardens in the area. (1–5pm)
• Recycled Art Show – A showcase of local art create by recycled materials. The Recycled Art Show even includes prizes for the best!

The King County Housing Authority and Federal Way Public Schools Americorps teams, in conjunction with Washington State Parks, are hosting an Earth Day Fair at Saltwater State Park in Des Moines (map below) this Friday, April 24th from 10am to 2pm.

“Be Water Wise” is the theme, and elementary and middle school students will have the opportunity to do interactive activities and visit information booths.
