Our good friend Janel Stoneback (pictured, left) of Emerald City Smoothie tells us that she and her partner Dan were victims of a major, yet smooth theft last night – someone entered through their garage and stole a big-screen TV, tools, some memorabilia and Dan’s 1998 Chevy Tahoe 2-door limited with the Emerald City Smoothie logo on the side.

Danny’s wallet, along with all ECS store keys were also in the car, so their shops opened late today as they had to deal with the police.

Janel says:

I got home from foundation interviewing last night around 9:30pm.

It is up for debate, but looks like I may have left the garage open. Someone came into our gararge which is like a huge rec room, took the 42-inch TV off the wall, lined our tools up nicely after doing so, loaded it up in Danny’s Tahoe and drove off. They went through the garage because they also stole a Roger Clemons signed baseball that was in the very back of the garage on a shelf. They had to climb over all the cove to clover stuff stacked up from this weekend – so very bold! Danny’s wallet and all store keys were in the car. So ECS opened late today as we were with the police for an hour or so.

If anyone sees 1998 Chevy Tahoe 2-door limited with the Emerald City Smoothie Burien logo on the side call 911 immediately.

We know they tried using credit cards in Des Moines and Seattle so far.

The license # is: W3066A, and it’s a Washington Huskies plate.

So please keep your eyes out for their distinctive SUV, and if you see anything suspicious call 911 immediately.

On Monday (March 1st) we received an email from Janel Stoneback, announcing that her Emerald City Smoothie store located at the Normandy Park Towne Center had shut its doors.

This store, located at 19803 First Ave South, may have been affected by a number of elements, including recent ongoing construction on First Ave South, the economic recession, as well as a relatively troubled location where other businesses have also faltered.

According to the Normandy Park city newsletter, this ECS location opened in August of 2008.

Far as we know, Janel’s two other ECS locations – near the Burien Safeway and at Westfield Southcenter, are still open for business.

While we don’t have the exact details yet (we’re hoping to get more info from Janel soon, which we’ll publish as soon as we receive it), according to Janel’s Facebook Page:

To all my Excellent very supportive customers, friends and business associates, it is with great disappointment we have had to make a decision to close Normandy Park Emerald City Smoothie.

Emerald City Smoothie's Normandy Park location now sits empty.

The inside of the store has been completely cleared out and is ready for the next tenant.

Menus are still visible at ECS's drive-thru window, but don't wait too long for that boost...

James Park, Dan Tamburelli and myself have worked very hard and it has paid off. 

The new store is near completion and opens on FRIDAY JULY 25TH, 2008 to the public. 

The store is beautiful and in a primo location thanks to Tim Webers hard work. 

We are in the brand new entrance, the only store as you walk in on the right side. 

When you look down from the third floor you can see our store shine. 

The mall itself has imported beautiful marble and tile, with lots of gorgeous artwork built into the design of the building.
