On Wednesday (Jan. 11), the King County Sheriff’s Office released new information regarding the possible identity of a suspect wanted in the 1991 Federal Way murder of a then 16-year old girl named Sarah Yarborough.

Police say that Sarah Yarborough was last seen alive on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 14, 1991, leaving her residence on her way to Federal Way High School to participate in a Dance Team competition

Yarborough was found dead on the school campus later that morning.

Witnesses saw a suspect and two versions of a suspect composite sketch have been distributed over the years:

Click image to see larger version.

DNA evidence was recovered from the scene.

Recently the suspect DNA profile was sent to Colleen Fitzpatrick, PhD, president of Identifinders International, for examination. Indentifinders International specializes in Forensic Genealogy in which an unidentified suspect DNA profile can be examined with the use of genealogy databases in an effort to identify the family name of the suspect.

Based on the analysis done on the suspect DNA profile in this case it has been learned that the suspect is a member of the extended family of Robert Fuller, who arrived in Salem Massachusetts in the 1630s. Robert Fuller is related to two Fullers who arrived in America on the Mayflower. The suspect may have the last name of Fuller.

At the time of the crime the suspect was described as:

White male

20’s

5’10”- 6’00” tall

Shoulder length dirty blonde/light brown hair

Medium build

Wearing a trench coat and dark pants.

If you have any information related to this cold case please call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.

David Anton Marincovich aka “Tank” of Burien, Washington died suddenly on December 17, 2011 of an Intracerebral Hemorrhage. David was born on February 20, 1943 in Seattle to Bonney and Donald Marincovich. He grew up in the West Seattle (early years) and Burien areas attending Sunnydale Elementary, Puget Sound Jr. High and graduating in 1961 from Highline High.

David’s passions in life were Boy Scouts and Soccer. Even before his sons were old enough to join he was working with Sea Scouts and Boy Scouts in the Burien area. When oldest son Daryl became a Webelo Cub Scout, David became his leader. When the boys joined Troup 393 (David’s former Troup) at Sunnydale, David became their Scoutmaster. He also belonged for several years to the Burien/Sea Tac Flyers, a semi-pro football team. When the boys began to play soccer, David became their coach and most ardent supporter. David also took referee classes and clinics to provide that skill to the Washington State Youth Soccer Association. When the boys grew up and moved on out of soccer, David stayed on, coaching, refereeing and volunteering wherever needed. In 2008 he was awarded a plaque for 35 years service to Washington State Youth Soccer, and became a Lifetime Member of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association. Soccer was truly his greatest passion. When he became a ” soccer grandfather” to his two granddaughters, there he was at field side, helping wherever he could, and honing their skills at home between practices. Alyda’s last soccer game this season was on December 3rd. Guess where David was? That’s right, on the sidelines cheering her on. Most area people know David “Tank” from his soccer activities, if they aren’t high school classmates. He will be greatly missed in the youth soccer world, where he was Mr. “if you want it done, call on me”.

David is survived by his mother Bonney Marincovich, his sisters Antonia Abbott, Shelley Williams (Colon), Julie Marincovich, and his brother Donald “Toby” Marincovich (Linda), his sons Daryl (Cathy) and Deven, granddaughters Marissa and Alyda, nephews Brian Williams (Jenny) and Chris Marincovich and niece Angela Marincovich (son, Aiden) and his former wife and close friend Dixie Marincovich. He loved his family and would do anything he could for them. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

A picture of David can be found on the Washington State Youth Soccer Association website and at the Highline Soccer Association website also.

A Memorial Service for David is scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 14th at 2 p.m. at Glendale Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 13455 2nd Ave SW in Burien.

The family would love for his friends to turn out and share their memories.

From our friends at Burien’s Moshier Community Art Center comes this sad news:

For the past six years, Artist Beverly Cameron has been a student in the art program (Art Escape) for artists with disabilities at the Moshier Community Art Center in Burien. She will be missed by all who knew her, and her artwork will be treasured.

Instructor Shariana Mundi wrote:

Beverly Cameron, our dear friend and art cohort, left this world on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She lived in the South Seattle area all of her life with an incredibly loving and supportive family. Her developmental disabilities seemed just a silent aspect of her generous and gentle personality. She flourished most happily in her quiet world of giant flowers, colors and family. Beverly worked with textile paints for years painting dishtowels for friends and family and in the past few years discovered many more media possibilities to explore and dabble in. She excelled at collage and bright florals, adding texture and pattern to her bold, simple designs. Through art, Beverly added friendships and artist celebrations to her life.

From her ever generous nature, Beverly’s most common statement about her art was:“I made it for you!”

Beverly’s work will be on display at the Burien Community Center until January 30th, 2012. The City of Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department would also like to thank Beverly’s family for its very generous donation to help develop and implement more art programs for adults with disabilities.

UPDATE 12/28/11 1 p.m.: Wednesday morning’s homicide that occurred at White Center’s Seattle Bakery Roll was not the result of an attempted robbery attempt as police reported earlier, but rather was related to a dispute that happened earlier in the week, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

“An employee of the bakery had a dispute with the victim earlier in the week,” said Cindi West of the KCSO. “Last night the employee, the victim and several other people were at the bakery. The suspect, who is known to both the victim and the employee went to the bakery and confronted the victim about the earlier dispute. During the argument the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police say that witnesses initially told the police it was a robbery because they feared the suspect would come back and retaliate.

The suspect was arrested at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of SW 116 and 1st Ave SW.

PREVIOUSLY: The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a man is dead after being shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the Seattle Roll Bakery Shop in the 9800 block of 16th Ave SW in White Center early Wednesday morning (Dec. 28).

Police say that the shooting happened just after midnight at the bakery. Three employees were inside when a man entered and attempted to rob the 24-hour Vietnamese sandwich shop.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was shot twice and died at the scene. The other two employees were not hurt.

The shooting suspect, described as a 5’8″ man wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray Nike tennis shoes, fled the scene on foot and is still at large. He apparently also wore a black bandana over the lower half of his face.

Reports are that the two had been arguing over gas money when Larkins drove over Johnson Friday night in Tacoma.

Larkins was ordered held in Pierce County jail with a $1 million bail.

PREVIOUSLY: Several media outlets are reporting that a fight over gas money led to a deadly hit-and-run in Tacoma Friday night, resulting in the death of Michelle Johnson, 45, of Burien.

According to KOMO-TV, witnesses apparently “watched in horror as the argument escalated Friday night, with one woman getting into her sport-utility vehicle and running over the other. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Denise Larkins, turned herself in and has been booked for investigation of first-degree murder.Police say the driver and victim were friends.”

The Seattle P-I reports that a witness named Rhianda Dillon said Johnson appeared drunk and had punched the driver, who then got in her SUV and ran Johnson down when she stepped into an intersection.

Larkins is scheduled to appear in Pierce County Superior Court on Monday.

As we learn more about this tragic incident, we’ll update this post.

Dr. Wilbur Chinn, DO, MD, 1924 – 2011

Wilbur Chinn was born March 22, 1924 in Portland, OR and died on Nov. 22, 2011 at his home in Seattle, surrounded by his family.

He attended Broadway High School in Seattle, graduating in 1942. He married the love of his life, Sarah Jean Alkana, in 1948.

He attended Central Washington State College and became a high school teacher.

He taught school in Portland, OR for five years before enrolling in osteopathic school.

He graduated from Des Moines Osteopathic School of Medicine and Surgery in 1958 and worked in solo medical practice from 1959 until he retired in 2009.

Dr. Chinn always lived by the golden rule. He always treated people the way he himself wished to be treated. This was especially true in his medical practice, where he treated his patients the way he would wish to be treated if he were a patient.

Dr. Chinn was a very gentle soul and very kind. As much as he loved to eat fish, it was difficult for him to kill the fish that he caught and he always apologized to them before administering a sharp rap with the fish club.

Dad always looked forward to his trips to Las Vegas. He loved the shows, showgirls and the craps tables.

Dad had a great sense of humor and a large repertoire of jokes. He was always the life of the party, and will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but by his patients as well.

Dr. Chinn truly cared for his patients and was very proud of the fact that he delivered several generations of babies in some families. He kept pictures on his office walls of every baby he delivered, adding new pictures as the babies grew into young adults. One of his greatest joys was having a reunion dinner with all of the babies that he delivered.

Many of his patients were surprised to find out that he was quite the basketball player in high school and in the Seattle All Chinese League.

Dr. Chinn’s family is very grateful for the wonderful support and help that they received from both Hospice and their many friends during Wilbur’s final days.

Dr. Wilbur Chinn is survived by his wife of 63 ¾ years, Sarah Jean, son Lauren Lee Chinn, DC (Pamela Anne Chinn, RN) and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Margeaux Anne Chinn, a fourth year nursing student.

An Oregon man accused of causing a crash on Aug. 21 that killed Gabriel Arthur Pena, a 3-month old baby boy from Burien, pleaded guilty Wednesday (Nov. 30) to vehicular homicide, according to The Columbian.

Christopher A. Roman, 26, who admitted to being intoxicated when he crashed into the baby’s parents’ car near Vancouver, WA, made the plea in Clark County Superior Court. He’ll be sentenced Dec. 9, and faces between four and a half to five and a half years in prison, according to prosecutors.

Roman was previously convicted of a DUI in California in 2005.

“I’m about to Vent BIG time… I just found out that the Man who killed 3 mo old Gabriel Pena, while drinking and driving got 3-4 yrs on a Plea Bargain,” reads a comment on the Memorial Fund for Baby Gabriel Facebook page, which continues, “Please tell me how a 2nd DUI Offender can get off with such an easy sentence, This person was also reported to 911 by 3 other people, as he drove like an insane maniac down I-5 before he hit Terra Piña’s car???!!! I am totally outraged…He killed a 3 month old baby, his family will never recover from their loss and that BASTARD gets off that easy…???? TELL ME WHERE THE JUSTICE IS FOR GABRIEL….For The Pina Family…??? I am Sickened by this…”

As we previously reported:

The Washington State Patrol says the accident happened on northbound I-5 as two adults, one from Burien and the other from Kent, were trying to change a flat tire along the side of the freeway. The drunk driver apparently lost control of his Acura, hit a barrier, then crashed into the disabled, parked car, injuring the adults and killing the baby inside.

Police say that the parents, Terra Pina, 21, of Burien, and Angel Pena, 23, of Kent, were on the shoulder attempting to fix a flat tire. The infant, inside the car at the time of the crash, died at the scene.

Donations are still being accepted for the Pena family – click here for more info on how you can help them.
