The Normandy Park Yule Craft Bazaar is coming Dec. 16-17, and is the brainchild of Annastasia Nichol and Sophy Hildreth, local high school seniors who are producing it for their senior project.

Proceeds will be donated to the Normandy Park Arts Commission.

The Bazaar will be held Dec. 16-17, in the Manhattan Village shopping center, 17849 1st Ave South in Normandy Park.

“A midwinter arts swapmeet for the local community of Normandy Park,” is what they’re calling it.

Before then, artists and crafters are encouraged to attend a free Craft Night on November 6 to hang out with fellow artists and create items for the Bazaar. Emphasis will be on decoupage on this evening – all supplies are provided and the creations made will be donated to the Yule Craft Bazaar.  Participation is free of charge and open to all ages. The Nov. 6 Craft Night will be held at DTwenty Games, 17851 1st Avenue S, Normandy Park.

The Burien Farmers Market, which recently extended its 2011 season to Oct. 27th, is open today (Thurs. Oct. 6) from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., and according to Event Manager Debra George, it’s going to be another day full of vendors with food, crafts and much more.

“There are lots of fresh peppers and grapes (purple & green) today,” Debra said. “And it looks like the sun’s going to come out!”

The Burien Farmers Market is open today (Thursday, July 14th) until 6 p.m. and according to Event Manager Debra George, there are three berry vendors, so there should be a plethora of fresh berries to choose from.

Neither rain nor sleet nor the gloom of wind shall stop today’s Burien Farmers Market from going on as planned, running from 11am to 6pm in the Burien Town Square.

Tents are set up, and we’re almost certain you own an umbrella or hat, or perhaps one of those funky combo umbrella hats, which you can utilize effectively to prove that yes, you’re a rugged Northwesterner who won’t let a little rain or wind stop you from venturing out to get some fresh produce or baked goods or handmade crafts or numerous other great items worth buying.

While there, be sure to stop by the bright yellow Discover Burien tent (near SW 152nd) and pick up coupons and special deals from local merchants.

Please note though that we B-Town Bloggers will not be present at today’s market for two reasons:

1. Publisher/Editor Scott Schaefer is fighting a terrible cold, and from what his Mommy taught him, it’s not a good idea to get all wet (“you’ll catch pneumonia!” he claims to have heard from her more than once while growing up).
2. Our computer and LCD monitor don’t do well in wet weather.
