Burien’s Highline Christian Church will be holding seven performances of ‘The Outdoor Living Nativity’ in the parking lot of its campus the weekend of Dec. 16 and 17.

“Merry Christmas from Highline Christian Church!” reads an announcement. “Please join us for the live, 20 minute story of the birth of Jesus. This outdoor nativity play includes live animals and cast.”

Burien’s Genesis Global Spiritual Center will be holding a FREE “fun-filled holiday celebration for the entire family” at the Burien Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 10th.

“Enjoy a scrumptious meal accompanied by live holiday music,” reads a poster. “Every child gets a present…and there’s a cool craft area too!”

Holiday photos will also be taken with the guys from the world famous Pike Place Fish Market.

The Presbyterian Women of Lake Burien Presbyterian Church are holding a Silent Auction and Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 8th beginning at 6 p.m.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Highline Area Food Bank, the New Futures Organization that provides after-school tutoring for local Highline area students, the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program which supports persons facing disasters both nationally and internationally and other Presbyterian Women Mission projects.

The Silent Auction and Dinner will be held in the Lake Burien Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 15003 14th Ave. S.W. in Burien.

Tickets for the dinner will be sold after church this Sunday, Oct. 2nd. Adult tickets are $15.00 and children under ten are $8.00.

Jerome Damey was born and raised here in Burien. He is 20 years old and has been into art his whole life. He graduated with an AA from HCC and works for Trader Joe’s as a full-time artist. He says, “My father was an artist as well as my hero. He passed away when I was 11. I found Christ a few years later.”

Jim Krug paints in both oil and watercolor. Subjects include landscape, still life, portrait and architecture. He has trained at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, the Scottsdale Artists’ School in Arizona and the California Watercolor Association. He does a lot of hiking in Washington

Corry Damey is earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design at the Art Institute of Seattle. He leads the art ministry at his church. He enjoys hiking, camping, singing, and playing bass, as well as being an artist.

Betty Vacca is a local award winning Northwest Artist. She uses a variety of mediums and subject matter, that ranges from landscapes to moving water scenes, to colorful florals. Betty has had a painting on the cover of the sailing magazine “48 North” and 3 paintings in the last published edition of the Seattle Junior League cookbook.

Beverly Taylor, a native of the Pacific Northwest, studied art at Seattle Pacific University, Prat Fine Arts, and in workshops with nationally-acclaimed artists. She is a member and former president of Northwest Watercolor Society, member of Women Painters of Washington, and of CIVA – Christians in the Visual Arts. Her art work has continued to evolve, as art has informed her life and faith. Her work includes drawing, painting in watercolor, printmaking and collages.
