The Washington State Patrol reports that two men were injured in a single-car crash in Burien Friday night around 8:20pm.

According to the report, a 45-year-old Burien man was attempting to exit to South 160th Street while heading northbound on SR-509. His vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, struck a tree and ended up resting between the tree and a guardrail.

The driver and his passenger, a 68-year-old SeaTac man, were transported with injuries to Harborview Medical Center.

Both men were said to be wearing seatbelts, and the car was totaled.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but police report that drugs or alcohol were definitely involved.

According to Perry Cooper of the Port of Seattle, Saturday morning (April 10) around 2:55am, a car apparently lost control, hit a ditch and then crashed into the southern perimeter fence of the Sea-Tac Airport runway on South 188th Street.

The Port posted security at the site until fence repairs were completed about 2pm Saturday.

No word yet on whether there were any injuries, but the gate was totally wiped out.

Police say that at approximately 12:11pm, Haybe Ahmed, 46, of Tukwila, was driving his 1991 Toyota Camry northbound on SR-509 in lane 1 when he drove across lane 2 and collided with the left guardrail just north of 128th Street.

The guardrail, which was completely embedded inside the passenger compartment (see photos below), prevented Haybe from crossing into the southbound lanes and causing a head-on collision.

Haybe was trapped inside the vehicle until medics arrived and were able to extricate him.

Ahmed was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and Troopers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

It is undetermined at this time if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.

The left lanes of both northbound and southbound SR-509 were closed at 128th St for approximately 2 1⁄2 hours while troopers investigated the scene.

A high-speed, one-car accident sent a car flying into a tree and closed the s-curve of Ambaum Blvd. SW in Burien near Salmon Creek Monday night.

BTB Reporter Gina Bourdage, who was on scene shortly after the crash, reports that a red Dodge sedan traveling at high speeds struck a jersey barrier on the west side of Ambaum near SW 118th. According to police, the car then flew “Dukes of Hazzard”-style up in the air, high enough (initial reports are 20-25 feet) to clear a speed limit sign. After flying for 80-100 feet, the car struck a tree and landed, leaving its hood stuck in the tree.

A male and female passenger were taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Their identities and condition is not known at this time.

Police have shut down Ambaum Blvd. SW between SW 128th and SW 116th for at least three more hours, until at least midnight.

The cause of the crash is not known, and investigators were still on the scene at 10pm Monday.

Monday morning (Feb. 8th) around 9:30am, two cars collided at the intersection of SW 150th and Ambaum Blvd. in Burien, and since it occurred near The B-Town Blog’s offices, Publisher/Editor Scott Schaefer was on the scene shortly afterward.

From what we could glean while on scene, an elderly woman in a silver car ended up ramming into a telephone pole in front of B&E Meats. She was treated on the scene, for “non-accident” related health reasons, according to a Burien Police Officer.

He was a 49 year-old Burien man, and his identity has not yet been released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred around 6:45am when two cars (a Kia and a white Toyota pickup truck) were stopped at a red light in front of The Barrel Tavern.

Soon, a red Chevrolet pickup barreled into both of them, nearly destroying the small Kia (see photo slideshow below). The Chevy truck ended up over an embankment in a neighboring house’s backyard.

The driver of the Kia was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. It appeared that the airbags in the Kia had deployed, and scattered amongst the crash debris was a hat and an iron.

The other two drivers and a passenger from the Kia were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, or for observation.

The Washington State Patrol is looking for witnesses to Wednesday morning’s fatal multiple car accident on I-5 in the southbound lanes of I-5 in Tukwila near SR-518.

The fatality was a 43-year old Seattleite who was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser without a seatbelt. A passenger in a Toyota Camry was treated for minor injuries at the scene, while others involved were not injured.

Most of southbound I-5 was closed during the morning rush hour while police and detectives investigated the scene.

If you saw the accident, you are urged to call 425-401-7719 as soon as possible.

According to the King County Sheriff’s Department, a fiery car crash early Wednesday morning (Sept. 23rd) claimed the lives of three people in SeaTac when the car they were in ran off the road, slammed into a building and burst into flames.

The deadly accident occurred around 3:30am, along 8th Ave South by South 192nd Street near Sea-Tac Airport (see map below), according to Sgt. John Urquhart. The three victims were the only occupants in the car, and likely won’t be identified for another day or two.

According to Urquhart, speed was a factor in the fatal crash.

The car was apparently driving south at high speeds on 8th Ave South near South 192nd when it crossed the center line, hit a support cable next to a utility pole, careened through some brush, struck a tree and then a building, where it caught fire and burned, killing the occupants inside, Urquhart said.

Urquhart added that there was no evidence yet that the crash was the result of street racing, which has been a problem in the area recently.
