Last year, 120 local women participated in this tournament. This virtual bowling sport, which uses the Nintendo Wii game system, is a “fall prevention program funded by King County Emergency Services, with the intention to reduce and prevent falls for seniors ages 50 and up.”

This is the 5th ShapeUp Bowling Tournament so far, and everyone at The B-Town Blog tips our virtual bowling pins in their general direction.

This is Nicole Hale here and the reason I am emailing you is to request support in spreading the word about an upcoming event to fundraise for the Susan G. Komen foundation.  On September 12th at Hiline Lanes, there is going to be a Rock ‘N Bowl fundraiser and silent auction to raise money for breast cancer research (from 10 am until Noon). We want to pack the house and get the word out!

Matt’s brother, Chris Hale, is walking in the 3-Day for the Cure and all the proceeds from the Rock ‘N Bowl are going to go toward his fundraising goal for the Susan G. I must say that I love this community and its generosity: La Costa has donated three dinners, Seattle Sun Tanning has donated five tans, Tin Room donated a gift certificate, Hey Paison donated a cheesecake, Osteria da Primo donated a gift certificate, and of course Hiline Lanes is opening up their lanes for a nominal fee.  I am donating a customized portrait (includes a sitting/pictures and a hand-drawn oil pastel of the portrait/pet), Sentinel Law Group is donating a Power of Attorney and Will, we have 4 Mariners tickets and are looking into more for the silent auction. At this point, we simply need our community to come out and play and would love and appreciate your help.

A local cancer-fighting group called the Pink Pedi Cures are holding a “Rock n’Bowl for the Cure” fundraiser bowling party (aka “Bowling For Boobies”) at Burien’s Hi-Line Lanes on Saturday, June 12th from 3pm – 6pm.

The Pink Pedi Cures consist of five ladies who will walk 60 miles over the course of three days to fight breast cancer in the Susan G. Komen “3-Day for the Cure” fundraiser. Their target goal is $11,500, and they’re looking for help.

Sleep Country USA’s annual “Pajama Bowl” is coming to Acme Bowl in Tukwila on Sunday, April 18th. This event is a fundraiser that helps over 26,000 foster children in the northwest.

100% of all donations will help local foster kids by going directly to one of 16 foster care organization designated by participants.

Last year’s event raised over $77,000 in both Washington and Oregon, and benefited more than 26,000 foster children.

WHAT: Sleep Country USA’s 5th Annual Pajama Bowl.

WHEN: Sunday, April 18th, 2010, with bowling at either 11:00a.m. or 2:00p.m.
