BTB Advertiser Bison Creek Pizza & Pub is presenting The Shivering Denizens again, for a night of FREE (as in No Cover) Honky Tonk & Blues starting at 10pm this Saturday night, Oct. 17th.

If you missed their first show (on Sept. 5th), now is your chance to see them perform, this time with Vanessa Page! The Shivering Denizens put on a great honky tonk/blues show, and from the bass to the banjo, have an original sound of their own.

Check them out on Myspace: www.myspace.com/theshiveringdenizens, then call to reserve seats: 206.244.8825.

This is a 21+ over show only, so leave the kids at home, but put your dancin’ shoes on, and bring your appetite and thirst (might as well include your pep too, since they’re open until 2am).

Bison Creek is located at:

630 SW 153rd St.
Burien, WA 98166

Note from Shauna, Bison Creek owner:

This is one of my personal favorite bands.

The banjo player and stand up bass player is amazing.

The crowd for the last show was diverse. Both the young (mid 20’s) and the old (50+) were enjoying the sounds of The Shivering Denizens.

Very unique!

909Got the blues?

Well then, this Saturday night, get your blue butt on up to the 909 Wine & Coffee Bar for the Paul Green Blues Band.

Music starts ’round 8:30pm, and here’s some info from Paul’s website:

Paul Green’s professional career began in New Jersey in 1968 with The Blackberry Booze Band. He also performed with other Jersey musicians including Bruce Springsteen, Clarence Clemons, and Little Steven Van Zandt. Moving to Oakland, California, in 1975, Paul became a member of the house band at a popular blues spot, Eli’s Mile High Club, performing there weekly and recording two albums with JJ Malone and Troyce Key. From 1975 to 1989 he performed throughout the Bay Area with his own band and other musicians, including Sonny Rhodes, Little Frankie Lee, JJ “Bad Boy” Jones, Cool Papa, Percy Mayfield, Lowell Fulson, Pee Wee Crayton, John Little John, and many others.

In 1989 Paul relocated to Chicago where he continued to “cool himself” in the blues. He performed in such legendary Chicago blues clubs as Buddy Guy’s, Rosa’s, Kingston Mines, and Blues Etc., and shared the stage with such notables as Sugar Blue and Junior Wells. Paul came to the Seattle area in 1991 and promptly won the Washington Blues Society’s award for “Best Blues Harmonica” in 1992. More recently, he won this award again in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007, and was also voted “Best Male Vocalist” in 2004 and 2006.

Paul has recorded extensively with Dan Dean Productions for commercial and studio productions and has been performing locally in numerous venues. Paul leads his own hard-hitting Chicago-style electric blues quartet, Straight Shot, and is one-half of the award-winning acoustic blues duo Cooke ‘n’ Green. For more information about Paul, check out this interview from the July 2003 Bluesletter.
