Our Latest Advertiser Is Market Place Salon & Day Spa!

Our Latest Advertiser Is Market Place Salon & Day Spa!

A really big mother-earth sized welcome to our latest Advertiser: Market Place Salon and Day Spa, which has a really big announcement to make to our readers:

EARTH MONTH STARTS TOMORROW AT BURIEN’S MARKET PLACE SALON AND DAY SPA!

Aveda Earth Month Starts April 1st: Each year since 1990 during the month of April, Market Place Salon and Day Spa’s TEAM of professionals and clients work together to raise funds for grassroots organizations that protect biodiversity and address environmental issues around the Puget Sound Region, such as www.pugetsoundkeeper.org.

In-Salon/Spa events include a raffle with prizes from Market Place and local merchants. And back by popular demand, Dirty Martinis for clean waters (and other adult beverages and water) served every Thursday evening and Saturday during the whole month of April. It is Daniel and Melinda’s goal to raise $1,000 for the Puget Sound Keeper Alliance. Since Earth Day was launched by Aveda in 1990, Daniel and Melinda and their team have been responsible for raising approximately $20,000 towards protecting and saving our local waters.

Further there will be a Market Place Salon walking TEAM in Seattle’s Walk for Water and Oyster Roast. The four-mile walk will take place on Sunday April 26th, starting at 10am at Golden Gardens on Shilshole Bay in Ballard. An oyster roast will follow with two seatings, at 2pm and 5pm.

Husband and wife owners of Burien’s Market Place Salon and Day Spa, Daniel and Melinda Keane opened their first salon in 1990. In 1997 they moved to their current location at Five Corners. As a matter of fact, most of the businesses in their plaza identify their location as “next to Trader Joes”, but Trader Joe’s identifies their location as “near Market Place Salon and Day Spa!”

Seriously BTB readers and Market Place Salon fans, in their 19 years in the beauty and body business in Burien, Daniel, Melinda and their TEAM have made thousands and thousands of women and men look and feel better with their beauty and spa services. From cuts and colors, massage, skin and body specialists, nail artists you can be sure you’re getting the best that Burien and beyond has to offer.

Click here to see their vast “menu” of services.

As long as I’ve known Daniel, he’s frequently flying off to some exotic place for a long weekend. When I sat down with he and Melinda last week, I learned what he was up to.

HE’S TEACHING!

Market Place staff includes, in back row: Margo, Jessi, Yvette, Daniel, Melinda, Taryn, Kiara; Front row: Bridgett, Paul and Debbie. Missing are Nahid, Darby, Yvonne and Shari.

Yes, teaching.

“Every time I teach I learn. It’s giving back to the industry. Plus it forces me to keep fresh and my TEAM keeps fresh”, explains Daniel.

He’s also demonstrating the use of styling tools (dryers, blowers, curlers, uncurlers etc) for Helen of Troy. A while back he was a hair artist in front of 1,800 European stylists at the National Theatre of Milan. He was the only American invited to perform. Even with his busy travel schedule he’s in his salon Tuesday-Saturday plus Thursday Nights.

Running a salon, styling, teaching, and travelling will make you wonder how Daniel ever contributed to a book. Wake Up…Live the Life You Love in Beauty, in which he and 50 other top beauty artists draw on wisdom and personal experience to contribute personal accounts of triumph over adversity. BTB has located a few used copies through Amazon.com if you’re interested in reading this compelling book.

Originally an Aveda Concept Salon, Market Place has broadened its product line for hair, face and body to include only the finest, natural products like Uspa and Italy in addition to Aveda.

And if protecting the Puget Sound isn’t enough, the good folks at Market Place Salon and Day Spa are participating in an International Spa Event. Spa Week is a promotional event where participating spas offer select spa treatments for just $50. Here’s what you need to know to get in on the savings – and make sure you get the most from your Spa Week experience at Market Place, Burien’s only Salon and Spa participating.

Spa Week at Market Place Salon and Day Spa takes place April 13-18, and the special $50 spa treatments include:

  • One-hour Massage
  • Concept Facial
  • Spa Manicure and Pedicure Combo

Pamper Yourself. Book your appointment for Market Place Salon and Day Spa’s “Spa Week” specials by clicking here or call 206-244-8886.

To recap, this month at Market Place in Burien you can help save the waters of the Puget Sound, drink dirty martinis, save money on beauty blasts (spa treatments) and don’t even have to leave Burien to get world class hair, skin and body care.

You can find the Salon and Spa located in Five Corners next to Trader Joe’s (or is TJ’s next to them? Hmmm…see map below), or just click on their Ad and peruse their website.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Some among you may wonder about Daniel’s seemingly non-stop travel when he’s got a beautiful wife and two grandkids in Burien. We at BTB wanted to share a few pictures from their website to demonstrate Daniel on a very difficult (and obviously dangerous) training assignment:

SECOND EDITOR’S NOTE: Daniel and Melinda Keane were teenage sweethearts (they met at her high school graduation party), and they’ll celebrate their 30th anniversary this year! They have two sons and two grandkids who all live in the Burien area.
