The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council (NHUAC) has scheduled a dedication ceremony for the Steve Cox Memorial at 3 p.m. this Sunday May 15th.

All are invited to the ceremony at Steve Cox Memorial Park, located at 1321 SW 102nd Street in White Center.

Deputy Cox was killed in the line of duty on December 2, 2006, and at the time of his death, he was the White Center Storefront deputy and served the community as the President of the NHUAC.

The NHUAC led the community effort to rename the park for Deputy Cox and the fundraising to install a memorial. Artist Jay Haavik was selected to design and build a stone memorial to Deputy Cox.

May 15th is also National Peace Officers Memorial Day. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The community lost a great officer when Steve was gunned down. He cared deeply for this community and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were safe. The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council has labored long and hard to build this tribute to our fallen hero. We need to turn out in force this Sunday at 3:00pm to show Steve’s wife, son, mother and family that he will never be forgotten.
