The SeaTac city council has long ignored the needs of the residents of the city in favor of pet projects. Over 95% of the city has no sidewalks and cables are strung overhead like ribbons from a maypole. Last year they authorized $1 million for sidewalks for the council members (i.e. Angle Lake) and that is all. The year before? $250k. They offerred over $8 million for the land before using eminent domain.

They are trying to build a city center with a pay to use parking lot just 10 minutes from Southcenter. Very dumb. Just check out Burien Downtown - with it's high pricetag and block after block of empty retail space of what is to come.

Reading the mail my parents receive about new city ordinances in SeaTac. I'm guess they are trying to make the city in to a very large home owners association. This is just more stuff they have pulled to back up my theory.

The city council is more interested in beautifying the city to increase property values, than making it a function city. Even if this means stomping on right of other is they do not agree with theirs.

Does this issue really have anything to do with party lines? I think both sides of our government have failed in the arena of eminent domain. Who knows maybe I am wrong? Maybe it is really is only the "Libertarian clowns" who are responsible for the problems in our country. I agree that this area is unsightly, but if it was my hard work and business I would also fight the ruling.

The city wanted to have a private developer build a parking garage in place of a "parking lot". Why not spend money on more transit and encourage people to not drive to the airport? The truth is if this business had be condemned it would have not been able to relocate. The business is tied to that location. Cities should be very cautious when using eminent domain. There is a fine line between what is good for all and what benefits a few. I am sure that developer would have stood to profit, but would it have benefited the general public?

SeaTac overstepped their bounds.

But the Cassans are similarly out to lunch.

Intntl Blvd is an absolute h@ll hole thanks to backwards thinkin' city councils and "private property rights yahoos" of decades past.

Watch the Libertarian clowns build a 7-11 there. If they do, I'm sure Rob McKenna and his band of bonus-loving cult members will subscribe to the "Slurpees For Life" plan.
