I’m with Lee, screw the kids the non-profit serves because we don’t agree with one of their positions! Those kids don’t deserve a good Christmas because of the residential center they’re housed at, right?

Gee Dan, sarcasm. What a surprise from someone with no last name.
I have thought about it quite a bit. RDCC had no problem selling property to a church. They front on two streets, one an arterial, with open gates and no obvious security. They don’t seem to worry about their effect on the public. They told me they worry about the effect of the public on them, but a well designed park would give them more privacy than four more McMansions crowded onto the piece they want to sell.

If you actually thought for two seconds before you wrote this, you would realize that a public park next to residential treatment facility that houses kids with development and behavioral issues is a very bad idea.

Like many nonprofits in these economic times, RDCC seems to have some financial stress and wants the support of the community. However, they have had a parcel of land rezoned so it can be sold to a developer to build high end homes on Lake Burien. They have stated that they will not sell the property to the City of Burien for a park to benefit the community. Maybe the people should consider that negative position when they select their holiday charities to support.
