Hello, my name is Cheryl and I accidentally came across this story... when I saw an old friends name caught my eye!... Laura Beth Peterson! LB loved your story and your beach house!
You may remember from our GJ days, I have seen a spirit (preferred to be called that instead of a ghost!... according to renowned physic to Sylvia Brown) in our Beacon Hill House...

He woke me up one night, oh yes he did! His name was Dave, as I was to learn following the big 'meet and greet"... short lived though... as I called out 'oh sh**!' and then proceeded to throw my pillow at this man floating next to my bed outlined in a bright white light! As I leaped to the end of my bed, flipped back on the TV (last thing I had done before falling asleep-turned it off) flipped the bedroom light switch on, looked, he was gone, then went to the bathroom, flipped on the light and slapped my face! NO I was not dreaming, it hurt!! Say it isn't so... but it was, I had seen the other side. The funny thing about it was I wasn't scared, surprising to me, really! I crawled back into bed, oh and left the TV on, glowing in the dark (yes, I shut the other lights off) and waited to share my amazing experience with my boyfriend at the time, now my husband, who would be home shortly from hockey (longest 20mins of my life!).

After the encounter, I learned the bright white light was a good thing... and what I can tell you is, I was at more ease in that house then I had ever felt before. See we had been robbed and I never felt comfortable in that house after that, even with an alarm installed... but after seeing Dave... there was a sense of calm...

His name was Dave and he had passed away in the house years prior, in the other bedroom and was found laying in his bed...

I once had a coworker who had a ghost in the upstairs of her house on Queen Anne. Her children played with it when they were very young -- she thought it was an imaginary friend. But it used to venture downstairs. She told me that one night when her husband was out of town and she was very tired, it appeared in her bedroom -- she sat bolt upright in bed and ordered it to stop bothering her because she had enough to deal with without him, too! From then on, she said, its presence was known by footsteps upstairs and repeatedly opening a closet door that could not just "spring open" by chance -- but it never appeared downstairs again. I wonder if the current owners of the house have had the same experience.
