I think the art is okay. Nothing too exciting though. It seems like there could be more. I’d like to see the art for the town square be more personal.
My ideas:
- Interesting imagery of people who have made Burien the unique community that it is — past and present. Perhaps a statue or portrait or photograph of Van Boorian (or whatever the settler of Burien’s name is.)
- Have local children create tiles that can be scattered about in walls, on buildings and in walkways.
-Have senior citizens create bird houses that can be hanging somewhere.
But I’m not complaining about the art. I was not a part of the selection process and so I can’t make any comments unless I want to be on the committee (as I one day plan to try and be a part of.)
I don’t think art needs to be expensive. Hopefully more art can be added later too. There doesn’t seem to be very many pieces right now which is too bad.
